A garden of small questions

Riddle Garden Range is an independent informative website about fictional mysteries, recreational codes, visual interpretation and lateral-thinking stories. The name suggests a place to wander between different kinds of questions: a garden of ideas, with room to range beyond the first explanation.

Our intended reader is curious rather than competitive. You might be choosing a quiet puzzle for yourself, preparing a reading-circle discussion or looking for a short exercise in careful reasoning. We offer small cases that can be explored without a timer, an account or a dramatic threat.

Our content boundary

Our original investigations involve misplaced invitations, messages, booking misunderstandings and arrangements of ordinary objects. They do not resolve through violence, theft, threats or concealed wrongdoing. Characters can make mistakes without becoming villains. A happy ending may simply be a better understanding of where a bookmark went.

References to the history of detective literature are clearly separated from our fictional scenarios. Mentioning an author, museum, book or communication standard does not imply affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. This site is not affiliated with the authors, estates, institutions or standards bodies mentioned.

The reader is a collaborator in the explanation, not a target for an unfair surprise.

What we ask of a clue

A clue should be available before its explanation. A beginner code should state its rule. A visual exercise should describe its essential arrangement in text. If the evidence supports several possibilities, we should say so. Intended answers are not automatically the only logically possible answers.

Photographs establish atmosphere rather than conceal critical evidence. No exercise asks you to identify an indistinct object in the background or distinguish two colours without another cue. Hint disclosures and complete explanations let you decide how much help to request.

A small, transparent website

The supplied site is made of static pages and browser-side tools. Search filters the casebook locally. The invitation story changes passages in your browser. The correspondence sheet creates a draft you can copy or export; it does not send mail. There is no account system, progress database or analytics code in these files.

We do not present the exercises as validated cognitive training, professional investigation instruction or a diagnostic tool. Their purpose is recreational learning and thoughtful discussion. If a clue seems ambiguous or a control creates a barrier, a specific example helps us understand the issue.

Tell us what you observed, what you inferred and which other explanation fits.
